Ingredients

  • 1 cup canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped

Method

  1. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, parsley, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, and baking powder. Pulse until coarsely blended.
  2. Add whole wheat flour and pulse until the mixture holds together but is not a paste. Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for 5 minutes.
  4. Lightly brush the falafel patties with olive oil and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  5. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve warm with tahini sauce or in a pita with fresh veggies.

Pro tips for maximum crisp

  • For extra crispiness, make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket.
  • Store leftover falafel in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Experiment with spices like paprika or chili powder for a flavor twist!
